A fine example of Edwardian architecture, Broomelea was built in 1909 for a cost of 2000 pounds as a summer home for Hugh and Margaret Norman.

Designed and financed by Mrs. Norman this was one of the finest homes in the fashionable Blue Mountains village of Leura, something that has not changed even today. Mr. Norman was one of the pioneering pearlers who helped start pearling in the Western Australian town of Broome (hence the name Broomelea) and would return to Sydney to be with his wife during the tropical wet season which might explain why most of their children were born around November !

Eventually sold in 1918 as the Norman family moved to Perth, Broomelea continued to be a much loved home for different families over the years. A sympathetic extension in 1989 added a large lounge that today is for the exclusive use of guests.

Converted to a Bed and Breakfast in 1997 and then purchased by the present owners Bryan and Denise Keith in 2000 Broomelea continues to offer quality B&B accommodation in a wonderful home perfectly located in the beautiful village of Leura.
